Saturday we woke up to a sunny day and decided to spend the day visiting the Como Lake, driving around. We had a nice time except for the crazy wind! When we reached Bellagio it was hard to walk… I guess we could have enojoyed the day much better with less wind. We definetely have to go back in Spring, it was the first time on the lake for me and I loved it, I want to spent more time walking around and taking pictures without having the wind moving my camera…

On the first day of the year we visited Bergamo with the friends that were staying with us for some days, with Davide’s cousin as a guide (and 2 of his 3 children).

We had a great walk in Bergamo Alta, there was a lot of fog which created a unique atmosphere.

Goodbye 2009

Welcome 2010!!

Buon anno!!

I can’t believe it!!

That I actually finished a cardigan!! Last year I tried many time to knit a February lady sweater, but apparently my brain wasn’t good enough to complete the task.. But this time I made it, I actually finished it and I’m already wearing it a lot!

It’s the Rosamund’s Cardigan from Interweave Knits, Fall 2009. I wasn’t sure if knitting long or short sleves, in the end I decided for short sleves and I’m happy I did. I used less than 6 skeins of Madil Loden (Yes I know, I developed an insane passion for tweed…. ^_^ I can’t help myself, now I want to use even more tweed). I followed the pattern without mods. I could have made more decreasings, to have a better fitting, but I will wear it lot anyway. The pattern is well written and easy to follow, and if I hadn’t to knit the Christmas gifts I think I would have finished in 2 weeks. uh, and I got gauge, also incredible! The top-down construction in great, you can actually try it on while knitting and see if it fits or not and it’s soooo easy.

Christmas knitted gifts

On Christmas day we woke up early and drove to my mom’s place, in Romagna to spend there some days. Christmas lunch was great, with my parents, my sister’s family and gran. As always my mom cooked for hundreds of people and the only thing I managed to do in the afternoon was to sit on the sofa and finish my Rosamund’s cardigan. That’s pretty much what I have done during the rest of the days we spent there…. Eating, knitting and sleeping a lot! Perfect holidays! ^_^

So, as I have delivered all my knitted gifts I can post photos. Surely next year I will start sooner to knit Christmas gifts, or at leas Continua a leggere »
